Career Portfolio Components
A Career Plan is a tool you develop and use to prepare for a "lifelong career".
- Resume
- Grade transcripts and/or address of your school's administrative offices (so the employer can obtain a transcript)
- Letter of recommendation, or your school's address that will send letter to employer
- A list of references
- Your diplomas and any certificates that you have earned
- Awards and certificates of recognition
- Projects, publications, or examples of your work that are appropriate to demonstrate your skills and past successes related to the field in which you are seeking employment
Examples might be:
- High school science projects, if interviewing for a science related scholarship or job
- Slides of artwork, if interviewing for an internship in graphic arts
- Articles you have written and that were published in the school's newspaper, if applying for a job that involves writing
- Samples of desktop publishing documents, spreadsheets, or databases you created that demonstrate your ability in the use of various software packages
