The NM GRADS System: Proposal to be Highly
Qualified
Phase one - GRADS will provide Child Care Directors with information about
the Para Pro Exam, CDA Credential, and NM Community College Associate Degrees
in Early Childhood Education.
- GRADS will provide information about course descriptions and degree
plans during trainings and at on-site reviews.
- State-wide articulation between two and four year colleges will
assure acceptance of course work if a Bachelor’s is pursued.
Phase two – District level PDP’s for non-certified GRADS Teachers
with Bachelor Degrees will be identified during on-site reviews.
End-of-the-Year Reports will request updates about the process selected
and anticipated date of compliance with licensure requirements.
- GRADS will maintain a state-wide GRADS System Matrix to document
teacher completion of licensure requirements; information about provisional
plans with a local University will be included.
- GRADS will partner with school districts to provide innovative ways
to motivate GRADS teachers to pursue FCS or vocational endorsements.
- GRADS will provide network teachers with mileage, and per-diem for
graduate level, component specific trainings offered by the NM GRADS System.
Phase Three – Technical Assistance will be provided to help certified GRADS
Teachers identify programs at appropriate universities which will enable them
to advance to level IIIA of the SDE 3-Tiered System.
- •Teachers will be given a GRADS Prospectus for teachers who opt for on-line coursework during the fall 2004 training.
- Graduate Degree Plans from NMSU, ENMU, UNM, NMHU, SFCC, will be made available to the GRADS Network in the areas of Counseling, Early Childhood, Family & Consumer Sciences, and Health Occupations.
- Information about the PED 3-tiered Licensure System, Vocational Endorsements, and how to develop a Professional Development
Dossier will be posted on the NM GRADS System web site.
