Menus, Arranging Windows

Assignment 3

Arranging a Window:

 

  1. On desk top, double-click “Student Folder” on desktop and select restore/down button, window shrinks.
  2. On desk top, double-click “My computer” and select restore/down button, window shrinks.
  3. On desk top, double-click “My documents” and select maximize button, window shrinks.

You should now have three windows open on the desktop.

Desktop screen is now displayed.  All three windows are displayed in the status bar.

  1. Go to the status bar and left click once, any window icon.  Window will now open.  Remaining windows stay in status bar.

 

Using Menus:

 

  1. On desk top, double click on “Student folder”, maximize window.  Window Enlarges.
  2. Double-click “D.Grider IT 101” folder.
  3. Double click “Practice.
  4. Double click “#2”.
  5. You will need to save this to your disk.  Insert disk, go to “File” menu and select “Save As”
  6. Click on “Save As”, then use pull down menu to select “3 ˝ floppy A:”
  7. In “File Name” Enter “Assign.3.practice”, hit enter key or click on “save”.
  8. Go to “File” menu; select “print Preview.  Do not Print.  Then select “close” button icon on menu bar and window goes back regular view.
  9. Go to “Format” Menu, select    “Borders and Shading”
  10. Select “Page Border”, select desired style, click on OK
  11. Go to “Tools” menu, select “Spelling”.  A new window opens giving you options for spelling.  Correct spelling on two words, then select “close”.
  12. Go to “Edit” menu, select “Undo Typing”.  Notice that word you corrected is now misspelled.  This undoes what you previously typed.
  13. Go to “File” menu, select “Print” – Do not print-however notice options.
  14. Go to “File” menu, select-“Page set-up”, notice options for paper size, margins, etc.
  15. Close window.

 

You will be asked, “Do you want to save”, enter “No”.  You are getting to know the menu options right now.  We will learn more options on saving documents later.

 

Formatting a Disk:

 

  1. Double-click “My Computer”.
  2. Left click once the 3 ˝ floppy (A:) drive.
  3. Right click once – Format -Select OK – all previous save work will be erased.
